A bioactive extract identified by the Herb & Cosmetic cluster has entered a Phase II clinical trial spanning three dermatology centers. The compound, isolated from a plant species cultivated in Mae Chaem, has shown anti-inflammatory and skin-barrier-restoration properties in preclinical work.

The trial protocol focuses on sensitive-skin populations with documented exposure to occupational irritants — a group historically underserved by standard cosmetic formulations. Endpoints include trans-epidermal water loss, patient-reported irritation indices, and barrier recovery time.

A noteworthy element of the program is its supply-chain design. The cluster negotiated a royalty-share agreement with the source farmer cooperative, ensuring that downstream commercial revenue flows back to growers rather than being captured solely by the eventual licensee.
