Introduction Chiang Mai University has established a robust environmental and energy management policy that integrates multiple water conservation and management initiatives, reinforcing our commitment to SDG6: Clean Water and Sanitation. This policy actively addresses water quality, water efficiency, and water security throughout our campus ecosystem and surrounding communities. Sustainable Resource Utilization The policy promotes resource efficiency through conscientious water conservation practices. Section 3 establishes that "We encourage personnel, students, and stakeholders to reduce resource consumption and utilize energy conscientiously." This approach effectively minimizes water pollution impacts and reduces greenhouse gas emissions, supporting integrated water resources management. Zero Waste Water Management Section 6 emphasizes our "zero waste management of waste and biomass, utilizing waste for renewable energy and environmentally-friendly products." This innovative approach to wastewater management transforms potential water pollutants into valuable resources, supporting water recycling initiatives and reducing freshwater consumption. Carbon-Neutral Campus Our policy addresses climate impacts on water security through Section 8, which commits to "reducing greenhouse gas emissions to achieve carbon neutrality by 2032 and net-zero emissions by 2035." This approach protects watershed health and water quality by mitigating climate change effects on water resources. Conclusion Chiang Mai University's comprehensive water management policy demonstrates our institutional commitment to sustainable water resources management, supporting both campus operations and community well-being through integrated approaches to water conservation, protection, and security.
